A Field in England 2013

Sesame English

Sesame English is a television/video series developed as a collaboration between Sesame Workshop and Berlitz International. Launched in 1999, with Taiwan and China as the debut markets, the series differs from the typical international versions of Sesame Street in that it was devised as a supplement to ESL instruction. The target age group is children from 4 to 7 years old. Italy began airing the show in 2004, and Polish/Hungary/Croatia as part of Sesame Nook since 2006.

100% English

100% English was a Channel 4 television programme shown in November 2006 in the United Kingdom. It looked at the genetic makeup of English people who considered themselves to be ethnically English and found that while all had an ethnic makeup similar to people of European descent, a minority discovered genetic markers from North Africa and the Middle East from several generations before they were born. The presenter was Andrew Graham-Dixon. The test results were interpreted by DNAPrint Genomics, based in Sarasota, Florida. The concept of the show was to: Take eight people - all of whom are convinced they are 100% English. Then submit a sample of their DNA to a series of state-of-the-art tests... Lord Tebbit, Garry Bushell and Carol Thatcher are among the participants who have agreed to place their genetic make-up under the microscope... Garry Bushell, who appeared on the show, later criticised the slant of the programme and the portrayal of English people. On his website he stated: "Only Nazis, and it appears C4, think of national identity in terms of racial purity... Besides, you could apply the same tests to the French or Italians and get similar results, but no-one questions their right to nationhood."

Full English 2012

Full English is a British animated sitcom created by Jack Williams, Harry Williams and Alex Scarfe for Channel 4. The programme is produced by Two Brothers Pictures. It parodies and satirises various popular entertainment personalities in the United Kingdom, created to be the British equivalent to the hit American animated sitcoms. Full English first aired on 12 November 2012, with the first series ending abruptly on 10 December 2012 after the final episode, due to air on 17 December 2012, was pulled from the schedules. The show has been cancelled according to the official Facebook page.

It was first aired on April 10, 2012 on SETTV after Inborn Pair and last aired on July 30, 2012. The series was nominated the Best Supporting Actress on the 47th Golden Bell Awards.

The Adventure of English 2003

The Adventure of English is a British television series on the history of the English language presented by Melvyn Bragg as well as a companion book, also written by Bragg. The series ran in 2003. The series and the book are cast as an adventure story, or the biography of English as if it were a living being, covering the history of the language from its modest beginnings around 500 AD as a minor Germanic dialect to its rise as a truly established global language. In the television series, Bragg explains the origins and spelling of many words based on the times in which they were introduced into the growing language that would eventually become modern English.

Connect With English is an educational dramatized television series that was recorded in 1997 by the Annenberg/CPB Project and WGBH Boston for students of people learning English. The 48-episode program teaches English through use of a narrative fiction storyline and discussion segments featuring actual adult learners. The show premiered in 1998 and is aired by many PBS stations in the United States and by The Annenberg Channel, a cable and satellite TV service available to schools and other community organizations.
